I was at Target Field preparing for a radio show Saturday evening when word started flying that the night’s contest in Anaheim was in question. How quickly things progressed from that to get us to where we are right this moment.

With respect to the complexity of the topic, here’s a quick rundown of what we know as of this writing and what it means for the Twins.

1- COVID updates

Games impacted:

Saturday & Sunday vs. the Angels in Anaheim were postponed. Monday’s game against the Athletics in Oakland also was postponed, with straight doubleheader written in pencil on Tuesday’s schedule (set to begin at 5:30 central time).

People impacted:

-Shortstop Andrelton Simmons tested positive last week and reportedly has not been with the team since Tuesday. He’s on the Injured List and was replaced on the roster by J.T. Riddle. Simmons had previously said that he would not be getting vaccinated.

-A Twins non-playing staffer, who has not been named publicly.
