The Vikings are dominating the news again, but this here is a Minnesota Twins newsletter. It’s one reason why I appreciated the turn of phrase — which I believe I first read in the Star Tribune — that “no news is bad news” when it comes to baseball’s labor front.
I can appreciate the sentiment. It would have been nice to have something wrapped up Dec. 2, without needing all this posturing and closed-door arguing between the league’s owners and the labor union representing its players. On the other hand, I’m still confident that something will get worked out, and this period will be only a chapter in the ongoing stories around our shared enjoyment of baseball.
Ages ago, way back when I was hosting a radio show centered on the Twins, the team’s president Dave St. Peter shared with our audience that “no news” — as in no public commentary on the ongoing negotiation — was in fact a good thing. I should have dug on why he felt that way, but can now only assume that he mean…
