5 Thoughts: Trade deadline wants + Twins racing despite injuries
The IL moves keep coming and yet the Twins are on a 106-win pace
The Twins took it to the Royals, winning 5 of 7 games in an eight-day span. Minnesota has finished the Kansas City portion of their season schedule. In the process, the Twins solidified first place in the American League Central and have now won 19 of 29 games (.655), which translates to a 106-win pace for a full season.
For all that has gone wrong for the Twins, the ‘banked’ wins paint a pretty rosy picture. One word of caution: 10 games better than .500 with 31 left to play does not slam-dunk guarantee a spot in the postseason, but it’s hard to imagine that Minnesota won’t be there.
