The Twins rode an unpleasant roller coaster in April and started the month of May on a bad note, too. They got routed by the division-leading Royals, but ultimately they won a series against Kansas City with a couple blowout wins of their own.

One series at a time, folks.

This column presents 5 thoughts on the Twins after a series win against the first-place Royals.

1 — The only Byron Buxton comparison

Just for the record:

Mike Trout has had a sensational start to the season and might win another A.L. MVP award this season. But to do so, he’s got to worry about the Twins’ star in centerfield.

Trout is currently hitting .413/.515/.775, and has already racked up 2.3 Wins Above Replacement, tied atop the A.L. leaderboard…

With Byron Buxton, who has had fewer games but racked up more value on a per-inning basis, according to FanGraphs. Buck is hitting and unbelievable .408/.444/.842, to go with his Gold Glove defense in center.
